Global Comparative Study on REDD Indonesia
CIFOR advances human wellbeing, environmental conservation and equity by conducting research to inform policies and practices that affect forests in
developing countries. We are one of 15 centres within the Consultative Group
on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). Our headquarters are inBogor, Indonesia, and we have offices in Asia, Africa and South America.
CIFOR is looking for 12 Field Research Enumerators to conduct work on
project sites related to reducing emissions (component 2) of the Global
Comparative Study on REDD (GCS-REDD). GCS-REDD is a fouryear global
comparative research project on first-generation REDD demonstration and
readiness activities in selected countries across Latin America, Africa, and
Asia. The goal is to provide REDD policymakers and practitioner communities with the information, analysis and tools they need to ensure effective and cost-efficient reduction of carbon emissions with equitable impacts and co-benefits the 3E criteria. The project consists of four components: (1) national initiatives (policy processes and strategies), (2) project activities, (3) monitoring and reference levels, and (4) knowledge sharing.

Period of work:

Monday January 25, 2010 through Friday May 28, 2010 (18 weeks) Duties and responsibilities:
Conduct social science field research (primarily household and village
surveys) at a REDD project site in Indonesia
Assure the completeness, accuracy, and quality of field research data
Assure fluid communications among the Component 2 staff, REDD project
proponents, and members of the local community
Participate in training, pretesting, and meetings, and other tasks as
required

Requirements:

Undergraduate degree (S1)
Strong academic record
Capacity for conducting hard work with irregular hours in a remote setting
Good interpersonal skills
Good character
Reliability

Desired qualifications:

A degree in forestry or related field (agriculture, natural resources)
Background in social sciences (either major or course work)
Knowledge of climate change, forestry, and REDD
Prior experience in field work
Knowledge of the local language and culture may be preferred depending on
the specific vacancy

CIFOR offers competitive remuneration commensurate with skills and
experience
There is a possibility (though no guarantee) of extension beyond May 28
depending on extension of the work and available funding
